The magnificent Orangery at Killruddery House & Gardens (Southern Cross, Bray, Co. Wicklow) is the venue for ‘Country House Flower Arranging: a floral demonstration of creative excellence and techniques’ given by RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal winner Richard Haslam.   This event takes place on Saturday, 11th July and the demonstration will begin at 2.30 pm lasting for approximately 2 hours.    Richard’s creations will be entirely in keeping with the unrivalled venue and his arrangements and tied bunches will be set in a variety of container and vases.

In the morning of the same day (Saturday, 11th July) at 11 a.m., Richard Haslam will lead a walking tour of Killruddery Gardens.   He will be commenting on the Garden’s planting scheme from a flower arranger’s perspective not to mention giving advice on growing plants and shrubs for picking and arranging at home.   Undoubtedly, there will be an anecdote or two from Richard’s prolific career in creating floral masterpieces in Ireland and as far away as Russia, Japan, South Africa and most recently in Spain in May of this year.

The Garden Café in the Ornamental Dairy at Killruddery has recently opened and is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular settings in which to take afternoon tea!   For this special occasion The Café will be available to participants in the Flower Arranging event for a light lunch but reservations are essential.   Please contact Sara on her mobile: 087 4198674.

Biography

RICHARD HASLAM N.D.S.F., A.I.F.D.

Richard Haslam is a freelance florist and flower designer based in Galway. He holds the National Diploma of the Society of Floristry (N.D.S.F.) and is a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers (A.I.F.D.).   Richard trained and gained a diploma in Amenity Horticulture at the National Botanical Gardens in Dublin.   Having worked in this field for 2 years, he began training as a florist in Dublin (at Sheila's Flowers) and Paris (La Maison Bardissa) and eventually starting his own business Branch Flowers in Galway.  He has had many competition wins including Interflora Florist of the year in Ireland; 2 gold medals from Chelsea and 2 from Hampton Court Flower shows with Interflora.

Richard is much sought after for his wedding designs, special occasion and corporate flowers and is an Ambassador for Smithers-OASIS floral products.

His relaxed demonstration and teaching styles are known internationally in countries as diverse as Japan, Russia, America, South Africa and Estonia, Switzerland, Spain, France; but most especially in Ireland and all over the U.K.
