Established in 1999 the company has evolved from street performance to it’s current incarnation in experimental theatre. They set out with the goal of creating entertaining and interactive characters to perform at outdoor events. These characters soon grew into stories and stories turned into complex worlds. Soon the company was creating theatre experiences that immerse participants in a world of imagination and inspires a childlike excitement and wonderment in audiences of all ages. Originally based in Belfast, the company has been on a long evolutionary journey both creatively and geographically. Monkeyshine moved from Belfast to Co Wicklow in 2005 where there relationship with Killruddery Arts began. They found the cottage in Co. Sligo in 2009 and began to develop the Creation Space. It is in the Creation Space that every aspect of our work is crafted with care and attention to detail.

Most recently, Monkeyshine theatre were resident artists in Killruddery from June 3rd to 7th as part of The Enchanted Garden – A Family Arts Festival on June 15th and 16th. The Enchanted Garden is supported by The Arts Council and Wicklow Co.Co. It has also been selected and supported by Culture Connects – International Culture Programme, Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union January – June 2013.

Cork. She graduated from NCAD (2004) with a Joint First Class Honors degree in Fine Art Sculpture and History of Art and is the co-founder of ‘The Pigeon House Studios’ Kinsale, which was set up in 2010. Ffrench has shown work at The National Review of Live Art, Glasgow; Tulca, Galway; and the Fringe Festival, Dublin. She also works collaboratively with artist Brian Harte under the name Ffrench/Harte.
Ffrench’s work is strongly grounded by material enquiry; her practice is varied but is often performative in nature, or has a ‘live’ element. Ffrench’s work primarily follows an intuitive direction; mundane objects are transformed and physical boundaries pushed in an attempt to connect with an understanding that goes deeper in the body than language.

Anne Ffrench was a resident artist in Killruddery from May 27th to June 1st as part of The Enchanted Garden – A Family Arts Festival on June 15th and 16th. The Enchanted Garden is supported by The Arts Council and Wicklow Co.Co. It has also been selected and supported by Culture Connects – International Culture Programme, Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union January – June 2013.
