There is a short walk to the farm shed, and you should give yourself time to take in the shearing display, so it’s best to arrive early!

Keep an eye on our website, Facebook and Twitter in case our farmer has had to reschedule this big job.

Craftspeople will also be on hand, spinning, carding, dyeing, knitting and demonstrating the versatility of this textile. If you want to have a go yourself, Feltmakers Ireland will be holding a short workshop in the fruit room studio to turn shorn wool into beautiful felt flowers. Admission to the workshop will be €10 on the day.

Sheep Shearing depends not just on the weather on the day, but in the days proceeding it. The wool must be dry to be shorn, so please check here, or click below to join us on the social media platform of your choice.

If you like the sound of this why not check out the Wild Woodwalk About, with Firefox Bushcraft.
