We will host an evening celebrating the life and work of Mary Pickford one of early Hollywood’s most influential figures with a special showing of the iconic film My Best Girl accompanied by a live musical performance on Thursday, 10th May 2012. The Orangery in Killruddery House will provide the background to this very special evening of film.
The evening will begin with an introductory talk from eminent film historian and film-maker Kevin Brownlow on the life and work of Mary Pickford. We will then screen My Best Girl, an enchanting romantic comedy telling the tale of Maggie Johnson (Pickford) who falls in love with Joe Grant (Buddy Rogers) who she meets while working as a stock room girl in a 5 cent store.
The film will be accompanied by a live musical performance from accomplished silent film pianist Stephen Horne . Some all time favourite cinema treats with an added Killruddery twist will be served along with a complimentary glass of wine.
Earlier this year it was announced that Killruddery Film Festival has gone biennial and a programme of events for 2013 is already in development. Killruddery are currently seeking partners to make the 2013 festival better than ever and are holding this special evening to encourage cinema lovers to get involved and support Killruddery Film Festival 2013.
Tickets for this unique evening of cinema, music and food are €30. Tickets can be purchased at the Killruddery Entrance or you can email Cathrine Agnew at cathrine@killruddery.com or book by telephone on (01) 2863405.
